Relationships

Two horses in twilight

In this world, everything is about relationships. We relate to others, to animals, to the environment. As it says in Buddhist thought, “Mind and Environment are One.” How we think, feel and perceive is influenced by our environment. Yet we still are responsible for our relationships. The decisions we make. For instance, true kindness comes from within. We can decide to be unkind also. We can choose to listen or not. Listening takes patience and the desire to understand.

If the other person or animal tends to avoid us, there is a reason or cause. Then at that point we look into the relationship to ourselves. Did we create this avoidance? How are we now to understand it? Will we just get defensive? Do we struggle with our self image? Are most of our ideas of relationship just concerned with just what we want or like? Are there tendencies of narcissism?

Relationships offer us the opportunity to learn…to look into the mirror. Is our mirror so obstructed that we can’t see who and what we really are? Then you might want to investigate what you can do to clear that mirror. To let all things have free movement in that mirror.

Never neglecting the responsibility of relationship. This is Love.
